National Night Out

National Night Out is a nationwide community-building event that encourages neighbors to connect with one another and with local law enforcement and community leaders.

​

In Shepherd Park Plaza, National Night Out is hosted by neighbors, for neighbors. Individual residents and blocks organize their own gatherings—from driveway meetups and potlucks to larger block parties.

​

The Shepherd Park Plaza Civic Club does not host a central National Night Out event. Instead, we help connect the neighborhood by:

• Collecting the addresses of National Night Out gatherings throughout Shepherd Park Plaza

• Creating a neighborhood map so residents can find participating block parties

• Sharing participating locations with our Constable Program deputies who like to stop by

• Providing the list of gatherings to elected officials and other community representatives who may stop by during the evening

Host a National Night Out Gathering

Interested in bringing your block together this year? National Night Out can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like.

​

Set up some chairs in the driveway, organize a potluck, fire up the grill, plan activities for the kids, or invite the whole block to gather outside for the evening. The goal is simply to give neighbors an opportunity to meet, reconnect, and strengthen relationships within our community.

When you submit your gathering, we’ll add it to the Shepherd Park Plaza National Night Out map and share the location with our Constable Program and local elected officials.

As National Night Out approaches, we’ll publish a map of participating gatherings throughout Shepherd Park Plaza.

Neighbors are encouraged to visit a gathering on their street or nearby, meet someone new, and spend the evening connecting with the people who make our neighborhood a great place to live.

What Is National Night Out?

National Night Out is celebrated in communities across the country as an opportunity to strengthen relationships between neighbors, law enforcement, and local community partners.

More than anything, it’s an excuse to get outside, meet your neighbors, and build the connections that make a neighborhood feel like a community.
