The annual Short Stack Shuffle brought our Shepherd Park Plaza community together for a fun and spirited day! With over 150 enthusiastic registrants this year, it was clear that our neighborhood’s love for running, pancakes, and community spirit is as strong as ever.
This year’s event included an unforgettable moment when the sound system for the national anthem unexpectedly malfunctioned. Showing true community spirit, the crowd joined together to sing, led by our very own neighbor Carmen Busceme. It was a heartwarming scene that made us all proud to be part of Shepherd Park Plaza.
The race day kicked off with the much-loved 5K, where neighbors of all ages laced up their sneakers and donned their best costumes. The competition was fierce but friendly, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners announced in women’s, men’s, and children’s categories. As always, the kids’ Fun Run was a highlight, with little ones sprinting and smiling all the way to the finish line.
A major draw every year, the Short Stack Shuffle T-shirts have become a true collector’s item among participants. The unique design and community pride make them something people look forward to with every new event, and this year was no exception!
Of course, no Short Stack Shuffle would be complete without the post-race pancake breakfast. Participants and spectators alike enjoyed a delicious spread, a perfect way to refuel and relax while sharing race stories with friends and neighbors. The costume contest added to the fun, with creative costumes that brought laughter and applause as the winners were announced.
Proceeds from this fantastic event go directly towards supporting neighborhood projects, helping us keep Shepherd Park Plaza a beautiful and welcoming place to live. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated, volunteered, and cheered—our community spirit is what truly makes this event so special!
